County Jail

Ten people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 2:57 a.m. Crystal Rene Lockaby, 37, Bainbridge, was lodged at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 2:53 a.m. James David Flatt, 34, Bainbridge, was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction, possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 12:22 a.m. Derrick Clay Holman, 52, Polk City, Fla., was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 12:15 a.m. Michele Anne Cox, 49, Polk City, Fla., was booked in on a local warrant.

Saturday

• At 1:58 a.m. Christopher Lee Dixie, 35, Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Wednesday

• At 11:48 p.m. Justin Wayne Lewis, 29, Rockville, was booked in for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, battery on law enforcement, intimidation on law enforcement, resisting law enforcement and reckless driving.

• At 8:17 p.m. Scott Daniel Love, 47, Roachdale, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated-refusal, reckless driving, battery and two counts of resisting law enforcement.

• At 7 p.m. Tommy Michael Daniel, 58, Reelsville, was taken into custody for being a habitual traffic violator.

• At 5:55 p.m. Jared Steven Mashburn, 36, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for driving while never receiving a license, possession of a firearm by a felon, reckless driving, resisting law enforcement and possession of methamphetamine.

• At 1:26 p.m. Laura Kai Nicholas, 34, Indianapolis, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine and on a local warrant.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 4:29 a.m. Thursday, Todd Orin Carter, 42, Reelsville, was arrested by Capt. Charles Inman on U.S. 40 near the entrance to Apple Blossom Estates.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated per se, Carter reportedly registered a blood-alcohol level of .215 percent on a portable breathalyzer.

Sheriff’s

Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated seven recent property-damage crashes.

• At 4:56 a.m. on Saturday, Justin L. Buchanan, 27, Waveland, was southbound on U.S. 231, approaching County Road 275 West in a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado when he hit a deer.

Deputy Brian Helmer estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000. The vehicle was towed.

• At 9:05 p.m. on Friday, Michael A. Ford, 22, Brazil, was attempting to back out of the driveway at the residence at 3 Lazy Acres Estates in a 2013 Ford F-150.

In doing so, he backed into an unoccupied 2007 Buick Lucerne registered to Steven J. Schroer, Greencastle. Ford said he could not see the other vehicle in the dark.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 6:35 p.m. on Friday, Mike S. Martin, 48, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2014 Ford Escape when he hit a deer.

Deputy Daniel Birt estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000. The vehicle was towed.

• At 5:18 p.m. on Wednesday, Judith E. Overshiner, 69, Greencastle, was backing out of the driveway at 894 U.S. 231 South in a 2008 Pontiac Vibe when she backed into a parked 2005 Honda CR-V registered to David Loughmiller, Brazil.

Overshiner told Deputy Robert Soilleux she did not see the parked car and that the owner shouldn’t have parked there. She said further that he should have tried to warn her.

Loughmiller told Soilleux he was parked in the driveway to deliver the mail. He had exited his vehicle and was standing beside the rear driver side when Overshiner started backing up. He said he had to jump out of the way to avoid being pinned between the two vehicles.

Soilleux estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Michael A. Miller II, 24, Indianapolis, was westbound on U.S. 40 in a 2013 Ford Focus when he hit a deer.

Miller complained of serious leg and neck pain and was taken to Putnam County Hospital.

Deputy Birt estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000. The vehicle was towed.

• At 8:58 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, Morgan N. Roseman, 23, Plainfield, was westbound on U.S. 40 near County Road 250 East in a 2015 Nissan Versa when he she hit a deer.

Deputy Anthony Brown estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000. The vehicle was towed.

• At 9:47 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, Anatolii J. Danyliv, 51, Orlando, Fla., was pulling out of Cook Lumber in a 2019 Volvo semi tractor registered to BSL Trucking, Chicago, when his trailer made contact with a building. This caused the east side of the building to start to collapse.

Deputy Brown estimated damage at $25,000-$50,000.
