Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 12:50 p.m. on Monday, Brian D. Humphries, 59, Cloverdale, was northbound on U.S. 231 just past County Road 1300 South in a 1994 Ford F-150.

Humphries told Deputy Matt Biggs he lost control as he entered a bridge that had begun to ice over due to the weather.

Biggs noted that the road was slick but that markings on the road indicate that Humphries’ right rear tire blew, which resulted in the accident.

In the course of the tire failure, Humphries lost control, crossed the centerline and collided with he guardrail on the west side of U.S. 231.

The vehicle was towed. Biggs estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 5:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, Rebecca J. Arnold, 49, Fillmore, was westbound on County Road 50 South just past County Road 300 East in a 2018 Nissan Murano when she hit a deer.

Deputy Biggs estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.
