Mary Allison came to Putnam County with her family in 1826. She saw a need to help the children of the county. She opened an orphanage in the late 1800s along with five trustees to manage the home and begin raising funds to provide for the children.

Mary believed in her cause so much that even after 100 plus years has passed Mary’s legacy still exists today with the assistance of 11 board members and school officials keeping a close watch on the needs of the children and their families in the Putnam County community.

It is the goal of the Mary Allison Children’s Trust Board of Directors to continue Mary’s legacy to improve the lives of the children of Putnam County.

Information on how to become part of the legacy is available by contacting any board member or calling 655-2333 or emailing gscott@wabashcapital.com.
