Roy Donald Hendrich

Roy Donald Hendrich, 95, of Greencastle and Bonita Springs, Fla., passed away peacefully Friday, May 10, 2019, in Florida with his daughter Linda by his side.

He was born Jan. 17, 1924 in Putnam County, the son of Herman and Freda (Heil) Hendrich.

He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, class of 1942.

Roy was a farmer and worked for IBM for more than 33 years. He had lived in Bonita Springs since 2014.

Roy proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He will always be remembered for his warm personality and belief in protecting our natural resources.

Roy enjoyed woodworking, hunting, shuffleboard, cards, bocce and watching Jeopardy and old TV movies.

Roy is survived by his wife of 75 years, Mavis Hendrich; children Linda (Hendrich) Anderson and husband Gary; Jim Hendrich (who predeceased him in 2018) and wife Ann and family; Jean (Hendrich) Murphy and husband Tom; and John Hendrich and wife Cindy and family. He had five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
