Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 11:50 a.m. Christopher B. Taylor, 33, Greencastle, was southbound on County Road 665 East just south of County Road 800 North in a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer.

The truck left the west side of the roadway in what Deputy Matt Biggs estimated to be a 45-degree bend. Taylor overcorrected and came out of the ditch, but this caused the vehicle to flip multiple times and come to rest on its top.

Taylor was able to exit the truck prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. However, he suffered lacerations to his hand and face. Operation Life transported him to the hospital.

Biggs said speed and overcorrecting are believed to be factors in the crash. He also said that Taylor seemed to have an altered mental state after the crash. He could not remember the events but believed he may have fallen asleep.

The truck was towed. Biggs estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.
