Michelle Boller to step aside at Beyond Homeless
Beyond Homeless, Inc. announced Monday that Executive Director Michelle Boller will step down on Friday, Aug. 2 after three years of service.
Current Program Coordinator Doug Cox will step in as interim director.
In remarks made to the Greencastle City Council recently, Boller spoke of strides the organization has made.
“In the last three years, we have gone from an infant stage to an organization that is well on its way toward long-term sustainability,” Boller said. “I am very proud of everything we have accomplished, including developing long-range strategic planning, establishing a Putnam County Community Foundation endowment, opening the Beyond Homeless Thrift Store and creating a number of outreach projects that just keep growing.“
The thrift store, located at 814 N. Jackson St., has become so much more than just a shopping or donation destination.
“Our thrift store has allowed us to expand our volunteer base and partner with other agencies where clients need volunteer/community service hours,” Boller said. “We have also been able to partner with the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Family Support Services of West Central Indiana, the Putnam County Senior Center, the TZ Clothing Closet, local nursing homes, foster families and emergency/disaster relief agencies to provide much needed clothing and other necessities.”
Also during Boller’s tenure, the intensive case management of clients and the Homeless Prevention Program have been expanded to include individuals who may not want or need residency, but who may be in need of financial assistance, help in identifying and accessing local resources or help with budgeting.
These services are offered free of charge and have provided many Putnam County families enough support to prevent homelessness.
Boller and shelter staff have worked hard to establish relationships with a number of local organizations and agencies to maximize resources for individuals seeking assistance.
The Beyond Homeless, Inc. Board of Directors thanked Boller for her service, vision and leadership and wished her well in her new ventures.
Boller has been accepted into a doctoral ministry program at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and will begin classes soon.
Boller said she firmly believes hard work and determination reap great rewards.
“I am leaving with a very grateful heart for the opportunities I have had and the relationships that I have been able to develop since beginning my journey here,” Boller said.
