To commemorate the adoption of our nationís supreme law, Mayor Bill Dory signs a proclamation establishing the week beginning on Sept. 17 as Constitution Week recently. Members of the Washburn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution present are (from left) Secretary Chris Miller, Regent Cindy Stantz, Vice Regent Jinsie Bingham and Conni Neiswinger. The DAR petitioned the Congress in 1955 to establish an observance marking the anniversary of the documentís endorsement by the Constitutional Convention in 1787. In August of 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower enacted the observance in Public Law 915.
