Veterans Day 2019

With Veterans Day celebrations throughout the county highlighting the sacrifices made for our freedoms, the honor guard of the Greencastle American Legion and VFW fires a 21-gun salute during the traditional service at the Putnam County Courthouse.

Meanwhile, Tzouanakis third-grader Amelia Silver (middle right) gets a selfie with her special guests, grandfather Gary Bowser (U.S. Navy-retired) and dad Russell Silver (U.S. Army).

At South Putnam High School, the day began with a program honoring veterans, including a missing man table, set for fallen, missing and imprisoned soldiers.
