Putnam County Chamber encourages supporting local businesses

Thursday, April 16, 2020

Local small businesses are one element which makes a community great.

They are where people go to meet friends and family to eat or shop. They are where people go to get what they need to fix our homes or cars. They are where people go to find professional help with daily needs. They are where people go when they need support for local fundraisers.

As time has gone on and the stay-at-home order continues, the Putnam County Chamber does not want everyone to lose focus on continuing to shop local.

The longer small businesses go without having people, the harder it is for them. Everyone needs to stay safe, but this can still be done while supporting them.

They have tried to adapt to the current circumstances. They are doing curbside pick-up and delivery options. Some of these can be found on the Putnam County Curbside and Delivery page on Facebook.

Everyone can still get everything they need here in Putnam County ... well, maybe not a haircut. Other than that, neighbors need to continue to support them as they try to find ways to continue getting people what they need.

Residents are encouraged to buy a couple of family meals out a week to support the restaurants, and continue shopping local or online whenever something is needed.

Putnam County is a strong community, and will come out on the other end of this as long as neighbors support each other now.

Stay safe, and stay supportive by staying local.

  • Supporting your local business doesn't mean to do your shopping at WALMART.

  • I sure as heck won't buy gas here. Sure, it's a bargain now but it's 50 cents/gallon cheaper elsewhere. Why are Greencastle's prices so high?
