William Alva Wood

William Alva Wood, 88, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2020.

He was born April 6, 1932 in Greencastle, the son of Charles and Hazel (Morgan) Wood.

Alva retired from DePauw University, where he had worked as a mail carrier for several years. He also help to establish the Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his daughters, Kasandra Burns and Monice Buis, 11 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Alva was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Karen Wood, sons Robin and Loren Wood, two infant daughters, three brothers and four sisters.

A celebration of Alva’s life will be held at a later date.
