Different Kind of Tribute

Monday, April 27, 2020
With current social gathering restrictions keeping friends of the late Jim Christy from gathering with his family, well wishers enacted another idea Monday afternoon. Shortly before Christy’s family was to gather at the Fillmore Cemetery, a group of people who would have otherwise been mourning with the family instead gathered in the parking lot of Fillmore Methodist Church to begin their tribute. A procession of about 60 cars — complete with police escort — made its way up Main Street before a left turn onto Cemetery Road to make a lap around the cemetery as the family was gathered. Christy passed away last week at age 77. His obituary can be viewed on page 3A.
