Susan A. 'Mam' Sawyer

Susan A. “Mam” Sawyer, 65, of Stilesville, passed away May 5, 2020 in her residence.

Born Oct. 4, 1954 in Newark, N.J., she was the daughter of Edward Zuest and Doris (Williams) Zuest. Susie was a true Jersey girl from Hillside.

She worked for years as a groundskeeper at the Oak Tree Golf Course in Plainfield and other courses later.

She loved to shop at thrift stores, get a good deal, was a collector of all things, a blue bin aficionado, master gardener and avid herbalist.

Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Sue Sawyer-Couch (Jonathan Sawyer-Couch) of Montezuma; sons Giss Sawyer (Amanda) of Plainfield and Thomas Sawyer of Stilesville; grandchildren Elijah Sawyer, Isabella Sue Diaz, Rocco Diaz, Landyn Sawyer, Layla Sawyer, Giss Sawyer, Ava Gabbard, Ian Gabbard and Isaac Gabbard; brother Randall Lee Zuest of California; mother Doris Zuest of New Jersey; and her dog Pluto.

Her grandmother, Emilie Williams, and longtime partner, Brian Shuler, preceded her.

Private family services followed by cremation are scheduled.
