Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 11:16 a.m. on Thursday, Sydney G. Moore, 20, Roachdale, was traveling on County Road 175 East attempting to make a curve in a 2015 Mercedes Benz CLA250.

However, the vehicle ran off the road and hit the guy-wire for a utility pole, as well as hitting a phone box. The impact knocked out power to a nearby home.

Moore told Deputy Brian Helmer she was not injured, but was checked out by a medic. She signed a statement of release.

Moore said she was traveling too fast and could not make the curve.

The vehicle was driven from the scene. Helmer estimated damage at $25,000-$50,000.

• At 8:31 a.m. on Thursday, Jacob A. Scott, 20, Roachdale, was northbound on U.S. 231 just south of County Road 1400 North in a 2004 Dodge Ram.

As he rounded a curve, he lost control of the truck and left the road. Scott advised Deputy Helmer that the back end of the truck came around on him, at which point he could not regain control.

The vehicle hit numerous trees, a telephone box and went through a wire fence. It came to rest against a row of trees next to a creek.

The truck was towed. Helmer estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.
