County offices to fully reopen June 22

Thursday, June 4, 2020

While Putnam County offices remain under their current schedules and levels of access for the time being, county officials are planning to be completely open for business as of Monday, June 22.

This announcement came from the Putnam County Commissioners following a special meeting on Wednesday to determine steps forward for the county as the state continues to try and get back to business as usual.

County offices have been on limited schedules with limited access since mid-March.

This will not change immediately, with courthouse access remaining the same — 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Fridays or by appointment, in advance, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Exactly what “completely open for business” will look like come June 22 remains up in the air. While the limited hours will be gone, the commissioners hope to be able to keep Courthouse access limited to one door — on the east side — while also continuing to screen guests.

However, the exact plan will be worked out between now and reopening.

The commissioners also strongly encourage the use of masks while out in public and at the Courthouse, as well as the continued practice of social distancing. There will be masks available at the Courthouse to employees and the general public on site to conduct business.
