• At 2:57 a.m. July 10, Kenneth Murray, 44, was northbound on Crown Street near Apple Street, diving a 1997 Ford Expedition, when his attention was diverted when he saw someone lying on the sidewalk, Officer Luke Brown reported.

Murray’s vehicle subsequently struck a parked 2007 Dodge Caliber, owned by Cody Crockett of Greencastle.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

Murray was cited by Officer Brown for an infraction of driving with a suspended license and for operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility.

City officers also issued another pair of citations on July 10.

• At 10:12 p.m., Sandra Johnson, 33, Brazil, was ticketed by Officer Alec Pettit for leaving the scene of an accident and for failure to provide proof of financial responsibility.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 7:54 a.m. Tuesday, Megan R. Kallner, 30, Reelsville, was eastbound on U.S. 40 near County Road 625 West in a 2004 GMC Envoy when the vehicle left the road and entered the ditch.

The vehicle rolled onto its driver’s side and came to rest against a tree on a hillside.

Kallner told Deputy Josh Deal she must have fallen asleep.

EMS personnel at the scene assessed Kallner and she was released.

The vehicle was totaled and towed. Kallner, assisted by Deputy Scott Ducker, estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 5:14 p.m. on Monday, three vehicles were westbound on U.S. 36 near County Road 725 East, while another was eastbound approaching the same location.

Timothy M. Watson, 56, Cloverdale, slowed to make a turn in a 2013 Toyota Corolla.

Lynette Owens, Greencastle, was following Watson in her own vehicle, advising that he did not engage his turn signal. Owens said she was able to swerve around Watson’s car and observed the crash in her rear view.

Alaina M. Wilson, 19, Chillicothe, Ohio, had been following Owens in a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. She also said Watson had not engaged his turn signal. She struck the rear of Watson’s vehicle, causing it to travel into the oncoming lane and into the path of a 2014 GMC Terrain driven by Donald E. Allison, 66, Rockville.

During the investigation, Deputy Jeffery Freeman said he found the turn signal to be engaged on Allison’s vehicle, indicated it was active at the time of impact.

Wilson’s vehicle came to rest on its side after reportedly rolling several times. Watson’s vehicle came to rest facing eastbound in the westbound lane. Allison’s vehicle came to rest in the ditch on the south side of the road.

Both Wilson and Watson were transported by ambulance to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Allison and his passenger, 65-year-old Rhonda Allison of Rockville, were taken to Hendricks Regional in Danville.

All three vehicles were towed. Freeman estimated damage at $50,000-$100,000.

Freeman was assisted at the scene by Indiana State Trooper Austin Fowler, Bainbridge Deputy Marshal Matt Biggs, the Bainbridge Fire Department, the Floyd Township Fire Department, the Roachdale Fire Department, Putnam County EMS and Adams Towing.

• At 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, Klarissa D. Long, 19, Roachdale, was eastbound on State Road 236 near County Road 75 East in a 1999 Chevrolet pickup when she hit a deer.

Deputy Freeman estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.
