COVID-19 update

The Indiana State Department of Health reported Thursday there have been 386 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county since March.

This marked an increase of eight cases from what was reported by Putnam County officials on Wednesday.

The number includes 11 newly-reported positive cases each on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as 21 on Monday.

As of Thursday afternoon, there had been one additional case in Cloverdale Schools, the Putnam County Health Department confirmed. This brings the total at Cloverdale to three, while North Putnam Schools has had one, which was confirmed earlier this week.

Additionally, as of Thursday the Indiana Department of Correction was reporting 147 positive cases among offenders at Putnamville Correctional Facility, an increase of 32 cases from one week earlier.

Over the same time period, three new cases were reported among Putnamville staff members, the DOC reported, bringing the total to 15 cases. Ten of these have recovered.

Among Putnamville prisoners, 519 were in quarantine for having possibly been exposed to COVID-19, while 182 were in isolation as possibly having a contageous disease. In all, 36 Putnamville offenders have recovered from COVID-19 and none have died.

At the county level, there have been no deaths from COVID-19 since May 30.
