BENJAMIN WEBB of Greencastle is one of 2,600 students who was named to the Bradley University dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester.

Webb is a mechanical engineering major.


EVAN DAVIES of Bainbridge was named to the Trine University dean’s list for the spring 2020 term.

Davies is majoring in mechanical engineering.


ROBERT WEAVER of Coatesville was awarded a degree at the Youngstown State University spring commencement.

Weaver earned Master of Respiratory Care.


A number of local students made the spring 2020 dean’s list at Indiana State University.

KAELYNN ABNER of Bainbridge was named to the spring 2020 president’s list at the University of the Cumberlands.

To be eligible for the president’s list, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 4.0, receive an “A” grade in UC Engage and be in good academic standing.


More than 750 students recently graduated from Indiana Connections Academy as part of the Class of 2020, including three Putnam County students.

Local students graduating included CASSANDRA TIMM of Bainbridge, JADEN ANTRIM of Fillmore and BRYSON STAMPER of Reelsville.

The majority of graduates, 66 percent, planned to attend two- or four-year colleges or universities. Additional graduates have plans to attend vocational training programs (10 percent), join the military (two percent) or enter the workforce directly upon graduation (18 percent).


In July, retired U.S. Army Sgt. KEVIN CORDRAY visited Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation Center and gave the residents a window concert.

During the COVID Pandemic, residents have been staying in their rooms more due to social distancing. This was a very nice surprise for the residents. Music is something they enjoy a great deal and have been missing.

Cordray, a violinist with the Community Chamber Orchestra of Kansas, played a number of selections outside the windows of the residents. Residents and staff enjoyed his talent, and had great coversations. Cordray is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in music from Berklee College of Music.

Cordray is the son of Jo and Gene Cordray of Greencastle, and resides in Wakefield, Kan., with his wife Rochelle and daughter Chelsi. Rochelle is employed at the center as director of dining and nutrition services.


CECILIA POHLAR of Greencastle, who is majoring in computer and digital forensics, was named to the Champlain College dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester.

Founded in 1878, Champlain College is a small, not-for-profit, private college in Burlington, Vt., with additional campuses in Montreal, Canada, and Dublin, Ireland.
