Chamber invites residents to do Taste of Putnam County ‘To Go’ this weekend

Monday, September 14, 2020

In 2020, events have had to go on with a twist. The Putnam County Chamber’s Taste of Putnam County is no different.

“Different isn’t a bad word,” Chamber Executive Director Brian Cox said. “It is a chance to try something new.”

So, this year’s event will be Taste “To Go,” with lunch carry-out on Friday, Sept. 18 and dinner carry-out on Saturday, Sept. 19.

“We want you to show your appreciation for local restaurants,” Cox said. “On Friday, Sept. 18, please take time to purchase lunch for your employees or take a meal to a friend you haven’t seen in a while and remind them how important they are to you. On Saturday, the 19th, purchase dinner for your family and friends to spend time with each other laughing and playing games and not cooking.

This can all be done while supporting local restaurants and making a statement about how important they are to the community.

It’s an opportunity to eat lunch at a favorite spot or try a new place you’ve been thinking about trying.

While there will be no big event downtown this year, having a good time with friends and family can continue.

“Our local restaurants have been pushed to their limits this year with all the changes they have had to make just to stay open,” Cox said. “Even now they still are not allowed to be at full capacity in their building. So let’s find a few ways to support them. Take this weekend to show them how much they mean to you by picking up a to-go meal. When you stop by and get a meal, take a picture and tag your favorite restaurant. Give them a positive review on their social media.

“This is the weekend to show your support.”
