Structure fires in Jefferson Township remain under investigation

Little remains after a pair of mobile homes caught fire Monday morning in Jefferson Township. The cause of the fires is under investigation.

BROAD PARK — The Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department is investigating a pair of mobile home fires early Monday morning.

At 3:42 a.m., JTVFD was dispatched to a structure fire at 3422 S. CR 1000 East. On arrival, they found two mobile homes approximately 80 feet apart fully engulfed in flames.

Chief Rick Cooper reported there was no electricity to either home. The cause remains under investigation.

No humans were in the residences, but six puppies were lost.

Both structures are a total loss.

Jefferson Township was assisted by Cloverdale, Fillmore and Mill Creek fire departments, as well as Putnam County EMS, Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, Putnam County 911 and Putnam County Animal Control.
