Helping to kick off the 2020 Coats for Kids program, the Putnam County Extension Homemakers present the Putnam County Youth Development Commission with a check. Many homemakers and clubs support the Coats for Kids program. The Putnam County Youth Development Commission is requesting community support for its 20th Annual Coats for Kids Campaign.

Boxes are being delivered to schools and businesses and should be ready for donations now.

Organizers need new or gently used coats of all sizes from infants all the way through teen years. Hats and gloves or mittens are also needed. Coats that are damaged or need to be dry cleaned should not be donated.

Donations will be accepted at Putnam County schools until Friday, Oct. 9 and at the following Putnam County Businesses until Friday, Oct. 16: Putnam County Public Library, Putnam County Hospital, Jack’s Trash and the Putnam County Youth Development Commission office.

The distribution day is set for Saturday, Oct 24 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Putnam County Fairgrounds Community Building. Remember that all children must be accompanied by a parent/grandparent or guardian. Masks will need to be worn at this event.

Participants are asked to understand that only a small number of people will be allowed in the building at a time.

Without the ongoing support of Purdue Extension Putnam County Homemakers Club, United Way of Putnam County, Putnam County Fair Board, Putnam County Extension Office, Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, Greencastle Kiwanis, Kroger, Jack’s Trash Service, Ascena Retail, DePauw University Printing Services, Walmart Distribution Center 6022, the Putnam County schools and the generosity of so many of Putnam County’s own, this program would not be possible.

Anyone with questions may call PCYDC at 653-9342.
