CLOVERDALE -- Along with three of its members being sworn in and few non-routine actions, the Cloverdale School Board had its annual update on Cloverdale Schools’ finances during its first meeting of 2021 Monday evening.

The leadership remained the same with Vivian Whitaker, Katrina Lewis and Donna Fidler being redesignated as board president, vice president and secretary, respectively.

Along with Joe Mann, Lewis and Fidler also renewed their oaths of office after having been re-elected to the board in November.

With the organization settled, Superintendent Greg Linton gave an overview of how the corporation stands financially as of 2020’s end during the board’s annual finance meeting. He provided a positive approach to CCSC’s status as of the end of 2020.

For the Education Fund, revenue for 2020 stood at $7,585,153. This is continuing a downward trend from $8,424,235 in revenues in 2015.

With this being said, expenditures in the Education Fund stood at $7,370,812 at the end of 2020, compared to $8,482,944 at the end of 2015.

For the Operations Fund, revenue for 2020 stood at $3,303,162 in 2020, much more than the $1,848,926 recorded in 2015.

Expenditures in the Operations Fund for 2020 stood at $2,985,172 as compared to $1,683,783 in 2015. The numbers in the set have not been consistent, with expenditures jumping to $3,311,154 for the end of 2019.

While expenditures in the Education Fund increased by $100,187, a contributor to this was an increase in the transfer of funds from Education to Operations, which totaled $948,000 at year’s end. Expenditures in Operations decreased by $325,982 from 2019.

The cash balance in Education ended at $1,307,523, an increase of $283,000 from 2019. In the same vein, the Operations cash balance stood at $148,918, an increase of $317,990 from 2019.

Comparing directly to 2019, only the total revenue in the Education Fund saw a decrease, which amounted to $140,780 less.

“All in all, our budget’s in very good shape,” Linton commented prior to the finance meeting being closed.
