James ‘Jim’ Snyder

James “Jim” Snyder, 72, Brazil, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on Nov. 17, 1949 in Brazil to the late James and Janet (Lawson) Snyder.

Jim attended Staunton High School and served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He married Christine Tickner on Nov. 17, 1996.

Jim worked as a janitor for Clay Community Schools and as a security guard for Great Dane and Columbia Records.

Jim loved working with his hands — he could fix anything with an engine, loved his Harley Davidsons and Mustangs. He also enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and playing basketball.

James was preceded in death by his sister, Odetta Lowe; brother-in-law Don Lowe; and a nephew, Jason Lowe.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Snyder of Brazil; sons J (Connie) Carter of Crawfordsville and Mickey (Lori) Carter of Rockford, Mich.; daughters Karen (Rich) Usher of North Carolina, Lonnie Youngblood of Brazil, Patty Overpeck of Terre Haute, Jammie Snyder of Brazil, Jackie Snyder of Brazil and Niki Lane of Indianapolis; sister Marshia (Jerry) Lowe of Cloverdale; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

A graveside service will be held at noon on Thursday, Jan. 21 at Poplar Cemetery in Brazil with Pastor John Pierce officiating. The family will accept friends for visitation on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the cemetery.
