CLOVERDALE — No one is hurt following a fire that damaged a home in Cloverdale Friday morning.

At approximately 9 a.m., the Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department dispatched an engine and a tanker for a structure fire at 336 Someday Way in the Stardust Hills community.

While the cause was not clear, the fire originated from a wood-burning stove located at the back of the home. The fire climbed up the wall near the stove and went into the ceiling.

The fire was considered under control by about 9:20 a.m. Cloverdale Fire Chief Kerry Shepherd said the fire was contained to one room.

The Greencastle Fire Department assisted at the scene with an engine. The Cloverdale Police Department and Putnam County EMS also responded to the incident.

The Cataract and Poland volunteer fire departments covered Cloverdale’s station.

The residents of the home are Carlton and Laura Oliver. They and their three dogs were not injured during the fire.

  • Once again the Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department members have done what they do, and they have done it well! Fires in mobile or modular homes are challenging to say the least, so containing and controlling the fire in Stardust Hills is worth noting! There is a science in fighting fires, and there is much more to it than putting the wet stuff on the red stuff! These men and women spend hours upon hours of their own time, and a great deal of their own money in training and preparation to answer a call to save lives and property. Your call could be the next one they answer, so when you see someone who is with the department, give them a big "Thank you!". They certainly deserve it!
