John Mathew Wilde

John Mathew Wilde, 78, of Cloverdale, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Born April 30, 1943 in Beech Grove, he was the son of John LeRoy and Velma G. (Coy) Wilde.

He was a graduate of Emmerich Manual High School.

John had retired from State Auto Insurance, where he had worked for 10 years. He had previously worked 32 years at RCA in Indianapolis and Western Electric.

John was a veteran, having served in the National Guard.

He was a member of Grace Tabernacle Church, Greencastle. He was an amateur radio operator and private pilot.

John is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. (Hardman) Wilde; his children, Timothy M. Wilde, David M. Wilde, Tabitha Ann Gregory and husband D.J. and John Robert Wilde; a brother, Kenneth LeRoy Wilde and wife Diana; and grandchildren Kaliessi Gregory, Dani Gregory, Jessica Cassell and Ryan Wilde.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 19 at the Grace Tabernacle Church, 407 Percy L. Julian Dr., Greencastle. Interment will follow at the Mannan Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.
