Wanda Jean Lady

Wanda Jean Lady, 75, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021.

Born Feb. 27, 1946 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of James Russell and Edith (Overshiner) Shoemaker.

Wanda had worked at Lear Corp. and Mallory’s. She had also delivered the Banner Graphic to rural Putnam County for several years. In recent years after her retirement she had served as an elder caregiver.

She enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, and going to the casinos. Wanda loved being spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Serita (Jake) Waggoner and Melody (Ron) Rominger; a brother, John (Sheila) Shoemaker; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; sons Kenneth E. Strauser and an infant son; granddaughter Grace Ann West; sisters Tina Miller and Linda Stanton; and brothers Donny, James and Jerry Shoemaker.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 26 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
