PCH, WIC team up for Community Baby Shower
On Thursday, Aug. 12, Putnam County Hospital and WIC teamed up to host the inaugural Community Baby Shower at Owl Ridge.
WIC is part of Putnam Women’s Health located in Putnam County Hospital. It is a special supplemental nutrition program for women, infants and children WIC provides federal grants to states for supplemental foods, health care referrals and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding postpartum women and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.
Mothers-to-be arrived at Owl Ridge and were greeted with a free diaper bag full of gifts from Putnam County Hospital and WIC. They were treated to milk and cookies, appetizers and beverages as they visited with community partners. Imagination Library, Head Start, Putnam County Library, Kick It Tobacco Cessation, Johnson Nichols, Putnam Women’s Health and Healthy Families were all represented and handing out resources to our Putnam County moms and moms-to-be.
Community member and business owner Piper Voss was in attendance taking maternity photographs for the guests. These photos will be sent to each of the moms. WIC and Putnam County Hospital also thanked Alicia Gregg with LuLaRoe, Bear Threads Boutique, Jessica Briones Photography and Putnam Women’s Health for the contribution that was made to make sure that each and every mom in attendance received a door prize.
“A huge thank you to Briana Tyson for her idea and hard work on this event,” PCH Director of Marketing and Community Relations Brooke Trissel said. “Her willingness to help moms-to-be in our county is incredible. She is a true cheerleader for each and every mom she comes in contact with. It is fantastic to see these women come out for an event and celebrate their future child. It was a wonderful night and I can’t wait to partner with WIC again next year.”
Putnam County Hospital and WIC are excited to start planning the second-annual Community Baby Shower for August of 2022. For more information on the WIC program call 765-301-7440
