Danny Michael Duell

Danny Michael Duell, 79, of Greencastle, passed away on Sept. 4, 2021 at Putnam County Hospital.

Danny was born in Greencastle on Sept. 12, 1941, the son of Jessie C. and Mary L. (Routt) Duell, and was part of the last graduating class of Greencastle High School when it was located downtown in 1959.

Mr. Duell was a former member of Greencastle Jaycees and a member of the First Greencastle Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He worked for PSI (now Duke Energy) for 19 years until his retirement in 1996.

Survivors include his wife of over 52 years, Carol Duell; two children, Chris Duell (wife Kim) of Greencastle and Susan Duell of Bella Vista, Ark.; three brothers, Gib Duell (wife Janice) of Brazil, Jim Duell (wife Sherry) of Indianapolis and John Duell (wife Nancy) of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Kaileigh Brown (husband Adam), Alexis Duell, Natasha Mitchell, Jessica Duell and Nicolai Mitchell; a pending great-grandchild, Baby Brown, due in October; a brother-in-law, David Kieffaber; a sister-in-law, Linda Dixon; several nieces and nephews; and five grandpuppies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Dee Kieffaber; and a brother-in-law, Gary Dixon.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Champion officiating. Burial will follow in Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
