LIMEDALE — Two motorists were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Manhattan Road south of Greencastle Sunday evening.

At about 5 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the area of County Road 300 West for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

The vehicle in question was reportedly traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when it went off the roadway. It then hit a utility pole, overcorrected and traveled through two yards on the west side of the road before crashing into the ditch.

Three individuals were involved. The front-seat passenger, Charles Doolin, 59, and the driver, Karen Meister, 51, both of Bowling Green, required medical attention. While their injuries were minor in nature, both were transported by Putnam County EMS and Roachdale PMH as a precautionary measure. The third motorist, Jesse Doolin, 36, Indianapolis, was in the back seat.

The Greencastle Fire Department, Roachdale Volunteer Fire Department and Putnam County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene. Meanwhile, the Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department covered Greencastle Fire’s station. Seniour’s Towing retrieved the wrecked vehicle.

Debris is spread across nearby yards where the vehicle struck a utility pole. Power was disrupted to 175 utility customers and was fully restored early Monday morning.

Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy Kyle Lee is the investigating officer. An inquiry into the crash is ongoing as of Monday evening.

  • What was your first clue, in the article where it says "high rate of speed"?
