Wilma D. Poynter Proctor passed away from her earthly home into eternal life on Sunday.

She was born to Walter Henderson Poynter and Mary Elizabeth Blanton Poynter as one of six children. She was raised on their farm and graduated from Fillmore High School.

On April 1, 1945, she married the love of her life, Leo Proctor, a week after he returned from the service. They were married for 68 years and had three children.

Though she loved golfing, fishing, crocheting and volunteer service, she was most devoted to her family, never missing an opportunity to be with any and all of them.

She loved her church and spent many years serving there. She also served many years as a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader.

She worked alongside her husband, Leo, in their business, Greencastle Tractor Sales, for many years.

She was preceded in death by husband Leo and son David Allen; her parents, Walter and Mary and stepmother Ann; her sisters, Ruth Stranger, Helen Fine, Mary Fern Proctor and Betty Zeiner; and her brother, Walter Lee Poynter.

She was survived by daughters Janice Hodges (Daryl) and Darla Thompson; grandchildren Eric Hodges (Amy), Alisa Whitener (Kent), Andrea Clinebelle (Kevin) and Vanessa Thompson; great-grandchildren Carina, Laurel, William and Margaret Hodges, Lydia, Melanie and Timothy Clinebelle, Grant and Owen Whitener and many nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to the very end and will be greatly missed.

Services are set for noon Friday, Oct. 22, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family has requested that contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Greencastle.
