Cloverdale School Board approves substitute pay increases
CLOVERDALE — The Cloverdale School Board approved new per-diem pay increases for substitute teachers during its short regular meeting Monday evening.
General substitutes’ pay will increase from $60 to $65, while pay for substitutes with teaching licenses will increase from $70 to $85. Meanwhile, teachers who have retired from Cloverdale Schools will earn $100.
Superintendent Greg Linton stated that the general and teaching license substitute scales would at least match those of other school districts in the area. He added that he had gotten input from teachers about the increases.
In other business:
• The board approved Cloverdale Schools’ calendar for the 2022-23 school year. Linton noted that it follows the 2021-22 schedule and accommodates students at Area 30 Career Center. He added that the Cloverdale Education Association supported the calendar.
• Per a request from Curriculum Director Cathy Ames, the board approved a 2021-22 state high-ability grant for $25,184.
The board also recognized Cloverdale Schools’ Students of the Month:
• Cloverdale Elementary School: Hailee Scott
• Cloverdale Middle School: Aiden Day
• Cloverdale High School: Tabiah Foster
The board also approved the following personnel report:
• Resignations: Antoinette Hassler - Cloverdale Elementary instructional assistant; and Tom Winders - Cloverdale High School head football coach;
• Employment: Michaela Marcum - fourth-grade teacher; and Loreena Powell - Cloverdale High School cheer coach; and
• Volunteer: Brantson Scott - Cloverdale Middle School boys’ basketball volunteer coach
Ames, Cloverdale High School Principal Sonny Stoltz, Cloverdale Middle School Principal Dawn Tucker and Corporation Deputy Treasurer Lynn Lotz joined Linton and the entire board for the meeting.
The next regular meeting of the Cloverdale School Board is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Arthur L. Johnson Administration Office near Cloverdale High School.
