Police investigating Sunday stabbing at Walmart

Police are currently investigating a stabbing which occurred at the Walmart Supercenter in Greencastle late Sunday evening.

Greencastle Police Capt. Charles Inman and Officer Jared McDaniel were dispatched to the Walmart parking lot at about 10 p.m. It has been reported that a suspect fled the scene in a truck.

A patient was transported by ambulance to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital. The Greencastle Fire Department also responded and assisted at the scene with patient care.

Greencastle Police Asst. Chief Brian Hopkins told the Banner Graphic Monday morning that it is believed the stabbing was an isolated incident.

Greencastle Police Det. Matt Huffman is the investigating officer. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Cloverdale Police Department and Indiana State Police have been assisting in the investigation.

As the investigation is ongoing, Hopkins provided that no identifications were to be released as of presstime Monday.

  • They have to interview the victim, then find and arrest the person who is responsible for the stabbing. This isn't crime TV. Crimes aren't solved in one hour.

    GPD has shown itself many times to be worthy of contempt, and what I said is known throughout this town by many people who actually witnessed it.

  • Crime happened on Sunday Nov 14th.

    Banner/Graphic reported it on Tuesday Nov 16th, with promised updates.

    Arrest made and reported on Thursday Nov 18th.

    Maybe the first two commenters are satisfied now. I seriously doubt it though.

    POSH - I made an off-hand remark about GPD, specifically one of the officers mentioned in the article and his notoriety in his early career (which should've been ended back then)... and the Truth Committee pulled my comment even though it is/was public knowledge throughout the town.

    Perhaps this light-on-details recap will make it thru, if only to assure you that you didn't really miss anything aside from the usual censorship from the BG Truth Committee.

    My contempt for the GPD has nothing to do with this particular case, and as they are paid to enforce the law I expect them to do their job.

    BG Staff - where is your Truth Committee to censor a direct personal attack poorly disguised as a screen name? I bet if I made a screen name disparaging any one of the staff it wouldn't fly.

    But that's okay. Your pretense of any standards is already well known.
