Cataract Water Corp. ends 2021 with ‘Holiday in Lights’

POLAND — The Cataract Lake Water Corp. finished 2021 with its “Holiday in Lights,’ wishing everyone a message of love, joy hope and peace with its Dec. 18 light show.

The festivities includes a Christmas circus, complete with a ringmaster, circus security, clowns, tigers, bears, monkeys and evend a couple of ostriches.

Having increased the number of lights in the display, the corporation set a new record for the number of people who viewed the show.

Santa, Mrs. Claus and all the gang stayed busy greeting the children and passing out prizes, gifts and tickets for our drive-thru door prize drawing. Elvis made an appearance again this year too, decked out in a white jumpsuit and strumming his guitar, as well as Buddy the Elf and Ralphie in his pink bunny suit, Olaf, the Grinch, Scrooge, Spider-Man, an “ugly, but pretty sweater girl” and a cute, little unicorn.

A special thank you goes out to some of those who made the event possible: Bill Kessler, Cataract Store (the Ford family), Chris Blice and John Edwards, Cloverdale Agri-Center, Cloverdale McDonald’s, Cook’s Corner Restaurant/Dawn Cook, Crane Credit Union, the Davitto family, Endeavor Communications, First National Bank, Jordan and Nick Duncan, Larry and Sandy Beverstock, Lieber State Park Staff, Marcy’s Jewelry, McCammon Insurance, Beth Neeley, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Rodenburg, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Hayman, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Walden, NAPA, Oak Grove Baptist Church, Patty Volz and Steve Goode, Putnam Plastics, Raymond Gilbrech, Robert Langdon and Jennifer Johnson, Taylor’s Hardware, Tracy and Larry Stanfield and the Perry family.

The corporation also conducted its annual coloring contest with the winning artists as follows:

Age 3 -5 years: Sophia Slaven

Age 6 – 9 years: Ansley Myers

Age 10 – 12 years: Daylen Hodges

Age 13 – 16 years: Kaidence Salsbury

Judges for the contest were Raymond Gilbrech, Annie Leach, Delbert Leach, Marie Nees, Perry Price, Danny Rodenburg, Genevieve Short, Anne Syrus and Eloise Wolski.

In the senior coloring contest for those 62 and older, prizes went to First place: Annie Leach (Poland – 3-Year Champion); second: Anne Syrus (Poland); third: Joyce Fislar.

The CLWC board members officiated over the “Senior” artists.

    LOL - what is this???

    It is either filler to push other stories further down the page, or it is a poorly timed press release disguised as a news story.

    A story posted on February 24th for an event that happened on December 18th.

  • C'mon DPR, can't you stay in the Christmas spirit all year long? I look forward to seeing this article published next August so I can laugh at it again!
