Myers Surgical Associates now seeing patients at PCH

A Terre Haute-based surgeon is now seeing patients at Putnam County Hospital.

PCH welcomed Dr. Janie Myers of Myers Surgical Associates for a recent meet-and-greet with community members.

Myers is the only fellowship-trained laparoscopic general surgeon in Terre Haute who is robotically trained. She has started two robotic surgery programs.

A board-certified general surgeon by the American College of Osteopathic Surgery (ACOS), Myers trained in general surgery at Loyola University Medical Center and at Midwestern University/St. James Hospital, both in Chicago. She is a distinguished fellow of ACOS as well as fellow of both the ACOS and the American College of Surgeons. She completed her FHS advanced laparoscopic fellowship at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Wash.

Myers is a mentor and regularly volunteers to promote wellness and medical education. Aside from her association with national medical organizations, she serves as medical adviser for the Wabash Valley Breast Cancer Survivors, collaborator with Vigo County Health Department and president-elect of the Vigo-Parke Medical Society section of the Indiana State Medical Society.

Furthermore, she is the elected Vigo County coroner, having taken office in January 2021.

Surgeries and procedures performed by Myers Surgical Associates include appendectomy, anal fissure, breast biopsy, colonoscopy and EGD, hemorrhoidectomy, hernia repair, lymph node biopsy and skin cancer procedures, Nissan fundoplication, port placement, robotic-assisted surgeries, cancer surgeries, wound care, skin graft, cholecystectomy, gall bladder excision, vascular and vein procedures, thyroid procedures, same-day endoscopy, same-day port placement, in-office procedures (including excisional lumps and bumps and vasectomy), debridement of wound, burns or infections and mastectomy.
