U.S. 36 construction work set to begin March 30 in Avon

AVON -- Work is scheduled to begin on or after Wednesday, March 30 on the added travel lanes project on U.S. 36 in Avon, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced. Traffic will be shifted to the south side of U.S. 36 so work can begin in the westbound lanes. Work is scheduled to be done overnight between the hours of 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. through Friday, April 1.

The project spans from Shiloh Park Drive to just east of Raceway Road. Two lanes will remain open for both directions of travel on U.S. 36.

The primary purpose of the project is to reduce delays and improve the safety on U.S. 36 with a focus on the heavily congested portion between the Ronald Reagan Parkway and Raceway Road.

White Construction Inc. was awarded the $8.6 million contract. Work is scheduled to be completed in October.
