Allen Dale Gurney

Allen Dale Gurney, 63, of Brazil, passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 27, 2022.

He was born on March 21, 1959, to the late H.A. and Dixie (Lutz) Gurney in Greencastle.

Allen graduated from Cloverdale High School and then attended Lincoln Tech, where he received a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for several companies during his career, including Cummins and Allison Transmissions. He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, leather working and in general tinkering with things.

Allen always had a story to tell, and would add in many facts from his “Who Cares Trivia.” He always made time for his children, never missing a ball game and when it would be time to leave he would always quip “Love you worser.”

Allen is survived by his two sons, Chad Gurney and Matthew (Chelsea) Gurney; grandchildren Skylar, Hudson and Hannah; several foster children; siblings Dennis Gurney, Dawn (Keith) Handwork, Steven Gurney, Eugene Gurney, Jennifer Jost and James (Shannon) Gurney; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Kimberly Ann and Debra Sue, granddaughter JoAnna Gurney and nephew Michael Gurney.

A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 1 at Roachdale Baptist Church, 10 N. Lonoke Street, Roachdale. Friends are invited for a time of visitation at the church on Friday from 6-7 p.m. prior to the service.
