Primary candidates to speak Thursday at DePauw

Monday, April 4, 2022

The Greencastle League of Women Voters, DePauw University, WGRE Radio and the Banner Graphic are co-sponsoring a candidates forum for the Putnam County Community in advance of the upcoming primary election.

The event will be held on Thursday, April 7 at 7 p.m. at the Watson Forum in the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media on DePauw’s campus.

For those unable to attend the actual event it will be broadcast live on WGRE radio and on Greencastle’s local cable access Channel 3.

The candidates forum will feature candidates for all five county offices that have contested races in the May primary election.

Sheriff candidates Jerrod Baugh, Steve Hibler and Dwight Simmons, as well as County Council District 1 candidates David Fuhrmann and Wayne Huffman will be asked questions by panelists from the LWV, WGRE and the Banner Graphic in a debate-style format.

Meanwhile, the remaining candidates — Tracy Bridges and Debbie Ensor for clerk, Heather Gilbert and Lorie Hallett-Talbert for recorder and David Penturf and Greg Williams for surveyor — will each have three minutes to introduce themselves to the voters of Putnam County.

At the conclusion of the presentations, the forum audience members will be allowed to ask questions of the candidates.

Masks are encouraged for the event.
