City Plan Commission meeting off for April

Thursday, April 21, 2022

In what had shaped up to be a significant City Plan Commission session for April, the two projects set for the agenda have been continued and the April 25 meeting canceled.

City Planner Scott Zimmerman said the projects involving the Aspire Development PUD (planned unit development) and Charles Pingleton’s request rezone his property on the north side to light industrial have been granted continuances.

Aspire is seeking approval for a planned unit development on vacant land north of Fawnview Drive and south of Albin Pond Road, while Pingleton is seeking rezoning of his property off North College Avenue near the old Barnaby Mill site.

“I am still working with Mr. Pingleton on what it will take to bring his property into compliance if the Plan Commission and City Council were to rezone his property to Light Industrial,” Zimmerman said in an email. “He has requested a continuance for April which is appropriate while I also consider some of the options the Plan Commission suggested at the February meeting.”

Meanwhile, the Greencastle Board of Works Wednesday approved a traffic study of the area where Aspire is proposing a PUD which will help answer questions about traffic flow through the area.

The $34,800 study by Traffic Engineering Inc., Danville, will not be completed until approximately early July so the PUD should not return to the Plan Commission until after it is available.
