Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated on recent property-damage crash.

• At 7:14 p.m. on Friday, May 6, Breeshauna L. Porter, 25, Greencastle, was apparently westbound on County Road 500 North at County Road 700 East in a 2014 Subara XV Cross Trek when it left the northwest corner of the intersection and crashed into trees.

Two witnesses to the crash told Cpl. Brian Helmer that Porter approached the intersection eastbound (the one direction that does not have to stop) and then turned around and headed back through the intersection at a high rate of speed westbound, leaving the road, going airborne and hitting a tree.

Both witnesses said Porter seemed to be intoxicated.

When Helmer approached Porter, she was sitting on a stump, holding her bloody nose. At that time, she told Helmer she had also hit her head and it was hurting.

Porter told Helmer she had been T-boned and it put her into the trees. However, the witnesses said she was not T-boned. Porter then said she had steered into the trees to avoid a crash.

Asked by Helmer, Porter said she had been drinking beer, saying she had drank three or four, stopping about an hour before the crash.

Reserve Deputy Joe Tesmer transported Porter to Putnam County Hopsital, where she tested at .173 percent alcohol concentration equivalent. She was then booked in the Putnam County Jail.

The car was towed. Deputies estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.
