Local Memorial Day services set Monday

Memorial Day services are scheduled for Monday, May 30 in cemeteries across the county.

In Greencastle, the Veterans Section in the southwest corner of Forest Hill Cemetery will be the scene of the traditional Memorial Day observance at 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by an Honor Guard composed of Greencastle VFW Post 1550 and Greencastle American Legion Post 58 members.

Cloverdale American Legion Post 281 will conduct a Memorial Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday at Cloverdale Cemetery.

Roachdale VFW Post 3284 will be making its usual rounds for Memorial Day as follows:

• Blakesburg Cemetery, 8:15 a.m.

• Bainbridge Cemetery, 8:45 a.m.

• Clear Creek Cemetery (Heritage Lake), 9:15 a.m.

• New Maysville Cemetery, 9:45 a.m.

• North Salem Cemetery, 10:15 a.m.

• Barnard Cemetery, 10:45 a.m.

• Roachdale Cemetery, 11 a.m.

• Ladoga Cemetery, 11:30 a.m.

• Roachdale Library, noon.

Everyone is encouraged to attend any of the local services.

Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, is a day of remembering the men and women who have died while serving in the United States military service.
