The beloved C. Scott Reynolds passed away at his home in Columbus, Ind., on June 6, 2022, after a years’ long struggle with frontotemporal dementia. His loving and devoted wife, Christi, daughter Jessica and son-in-law Jimmy were at his side as he slipped over to the other side. Scott was just shy of his 78th birthday on June 14.

Scott was born in Ft. Myers, Fla., where his father, Dr. Albert E. Reynolds, was stationed during World War II. He was the youngest child and only son of Albert and Mary Elizabeth.

As a graduate of Greencastle High School, Scott went on to Purdue University in Indianapolis, earning a degree in computer science. He worked 28 years for Dow AgroSciences, starting in computer programming, then sales, onto network security and finally purchasing. He had the good fortune to work for a company that made it possible for him to retire at 58, spending the next nearly 20 years pursuing his passions.

Scott was the most devoted husband to his wife, whom he adored beyond measure, and they had an amazing 42 years together, although married for only 32. Scott taught Christi how to ride a motorcycle and together they had many amazing adventures all over North America (49 of 50 States and Canada) and New Zealand, riding whenever and wherever possible.

Although happiest when riding, Scott also loved nature (while being au naturale) and the great outdoors, riding and hiking trails and sitting by the fire pit drinking a gin and tonic. He loved the time living in their log home in Brown County, enjoying the changing seasons, seeing all the wildlife (some of it in the house!), drinking coffee on the deck or napping in the hammock.

The environment and animals were two of Scott’s passions, always carrying a reusable bag in his back pocket, never wanting to use plastic, drove an electric car and lived in a green building. He was also a frequent donor and supporter of the Sierra Club, national parks and Brown County Humane Society. He absolutely loved his dog Tiko, and proudly wore his “The Dog Likes Me Best” hat, wherever he went.

Music has always been a love and passion for Scott, attending many concerts in his younger days, resulting in the need for hearing aids later on. He and Christi loved attending house concerts in Seymour and would see live music whenever possible – in Nashville, Austin and Chicago. He enjoyed watching concerts on live TV and had an extensive DVD collection, ranging from Muddy Water and Stevie Ray Vaughan to the Rolling Stones, Queen and U2.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Nettie Utt and sister Kathy Reynolds.

He is survived by his wife, Christi (England) Reynolds, children Jessica Reynolds (James Clark), Zviad Aznaurashvili (Inga Sanikidze), Peter Reynolds and Carrie Reynolds and his much-loved cousin, Wanda Ingmire-Hamm. Scott loved spending time with grandson Ethan Reynolds, playing board games, racing cars on the Wii and taking road trips around the country. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kayla (Reynolds) Moit, Mia Aznaurashvili and Isabella Reynolds.

Scott loved welcoming people from all over the world into his home and will be especially missed by his international exchange student daughters, Isa Vitelli Tanaka (Brazil), Michela Peron (Italy), Louisa Brand (Germany) and Mathilde Soudron (Belgium).

Scott generously donated his beautiful body to the Anatomical Education Program at the IU School of Medicine. This gift contributes significantly to the advancement of health science education in the state of Indiana and will benefit the quality of life and care for the living.

Flowers may be sent to the home at 1032 Jackson St., Columbus, IN 47201. Donations to the Sierra Club, National Parks or Brown County Humane Society in Scott’s name are also appreciated - or just plant a tree!

On Scott’s birthday, June 14 at 6 p.m., there will also be an informal gathering at Casa Grande, 1360 Indianapolis Rd., to have a margarita toast in his honor. All who knew Scott are invited to join the family there.
