Area 30 Career Center recently received a grant for $12,000 from Duke Energy that will go toward its adult education programs.

Area 30 is one of 16 organizations and institutions to be awarded more than $330,000 in shareholder-funded grants facilitated through the utility provider’s foundation.

The funds will support a new material handler/forklift operator certification training course, as well as expanding the number of Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL-B), certified logistics associate (CLA) and certified logistics technician (CLT) courses.

Apart from Area 30, the grants are geared toward workforce development and educational programs in 14 other counties.

“Duke Energy is committed to helping Indiana’s workers obtain the skills and industry-recognized credentials needed to meet the state’s current and future labor market needs,” said Duke Energy Indiana President Stan Pinegar regarding the grants.
