Putnam County Community Foundation to sponsor First Friday

With the Putnam County Community Foundation as primary sponsor, Greencastle First Friday, presented by Main Street Greencastle, will return to downtown on Friday, July 1.

PCCF, a first-time sponsor of the festivities, will have free popcorn, a cash grab machine, a chance to win an Oculus and information about the annual Share the Dream campaign.

Share the Dream, a program that will be at its halfway point as of Friday, guarantees a 50-cent match to every dollar raised by the participating endowments. Each endowment must receive donations of $25 or more from at least 10 unique households during the matching period.

Hosted on the first Friday of each month between May and October, Greencastle First Friday takes place primarily on Franklin and Indiana streets, bringing music, vendors and organizations to the area that already has a number of shops and restaurants on site.

This month, music will be provided by Southbound 87 from the Courthouse Stage, Hunter Wainscott and The Vagabonds at the Moore’s Bar Stage on South Indiana Street and Derek Chastain with acoustic music on the north side of Franklin Street.

Chastain’s set will run from 5-6:30 p.m., with bands on the stages starting roughly 7-7:30 p.m.

Vendors include Wally’s and Hogg Wild barbecue food trucks, 15 craft vendors and a giant inflatable slide

Starting between 5 and 6 p.m., First Friday festivities last until 11 p.m.
