Restrictions on I-70 in eastern Putnam County coming July 5

Tuesday, June 28, 2022

The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced restrictions on Interstate 70 eastbound and westbound about three miles west of Little Point on or after Tuesday, July 5. Restrictions could last nearly four months.

The restrictions will be between the Little Point (County Road 400 West) and Cloverdale (U.S. 231) exits for a four-phase box culvert installation. Crews will also construct a median crossover.

Traffic will shift down to two, 11-foot travel lanes with two-foot shoulders in each direction to allow crews to install the box under I-70 westbound and then on I-70 eastbound.

The total road width in each direction will be 26 feet.

This project was awarded to Morphey Construction for $3.6 million. It’s expected to be completed at the end of October, weather permitting.

  • Would be nice if law enforcement would have patrols as US40 is becoming dangerous with all the interstate traffic driving as if they were still on the interstate. For a couple months now people been getting off the interstate a flying threw putnamville. There are going to become some bad accidents on US40 if something isn’t done.
