Earl Neeley 87, joined his wife of 56 years in Heaven on Sunday, July 3, 2022, surrounded by his children.

He was born on Aug. 5, 1934 to Charles and Emma (Butler) Neeley in Amo.

In his youth he moved to Kentucky, where he met the love of his life, Edna Lamb, in Lancaster, Ky., a marriage that lasted 56 years until her passing in 2010.

Leaving Kentucky in 1957, he moved his family back to Indiana, where he worked alongside his father drywalling. Later, he and his brother Larry started their own business “Neeley’s Drywall,” which many homes and businesses to this day still display their craft. He was a proud member of Local No. 859 Carpenters Union for more than 30 years.

When he wasn’t working and raising the children, he loved to fish and be outdoors.

After his retirement from American Drywall, he and his wife moved to Stanford, Ky., where they attended the Waynesburg Pentecostal Church.

He is survived by five children, Donna Hargett (Jimmie) of Greencastle, Earl Gordon Neeley (Dee) of Cloverdale, Paul Neeley (Joie) of Brazil, Steve Neeley (Melinda) of Greencastle and Gary Neeley (Gail) of Camby, 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews and cousins from Indiana and Kentucky and all his fellow co-workers and friends from his days of drywalling.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna (Lamb) Neeley; a son, Roger Neeley; his parents; his stepmother, Stella Neeley; three brothers, Don, James and Larry Neeley; daughter-in-law Sherri Neeley, one granddaughter, Tanya Neeley; and great-granddaughter Amelia Shea.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held at the Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, Ky. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m.

He will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Lancaster Cemetery in Lancaster, Ky.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mill Pond for taking wonderful care of our father.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made in memory of Earl Neeley to the American Cancer Society.
