July 13 Author Talk at PCPL to feature Fabe’s new book

Thursday, July 7, 2022

Local author Stuart Fabe will present an Author Talk Wednesday, July 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Putnam County Public Library on his new book, “The Write House.”

In addition to Amazon and Barnes and Noble, Fabe also has copies of “The Write House” available for sale at Eli’s bookstore or persons can contact him directly at stuartfabe@gmail.com.

Since a recent feature article in the Banner Graphic, Fabe said he has been contacted by people who lived in the house over the years, including Tim Bitzer and Ellen Rattray. Mary Hirt’s grandfather-in-law built the house.

The story begins in 1920 in Putnam County as Delano Engel has recently returned home to his wife after surviving two harrowing years on the front lines of France during World War I. He starts a business manufacturing parts for the nascent civil aviation industry and the military and purchases a Curtiss Jenny biplane and learned to fly. His wife, Caroline, is pregnant with their first child.

While flying above Putnam County, they see an intriguing-lookingVictorian mansion hidden in the woods. They search county real estate records and learn that the house had been forgotten over the years, and that the previous owners had mysteriously disappeared.

The Engels purchase the house, and upon cleaning it, they discover a hidden attic room that conceals an old book that contains the sum of the knowledge of six generations of the Tamberg Magical Dynasty. They are astounded to learn the book has the ability to communicate with them with words that magically appear on its blank pages.

“There will be turmoil,” the sentient book warns, and the rest of the story tells of the heroic efforts that the Engels and a determined police detective must go through in averting a heartbreaking tragedy and ultimately discovering a wonderful treasure.
