James ‘Johnny’ Harvey White Jr.

James “Johnny” Harvey White Jr., 95, of Brick Chapel, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Born Feb. 28, 1927 in Indianapolis, he was the son of James H. and Helen Violet (Oakden) White.

A 1945 graduate of Mount Comfort High School, he married Helen Marie Frost on Nov. 25, 1949, and she preceded him in death.

He was a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II in Fukuoka, Japan.

Johnny had lived in Mooresville, Danville, Fillmore and Brick Chapel where they operated their dairy farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Helen; sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Donald Blue; brother-in-law Norman Frost; and sister-in-law Betty Burks.

Johnny is survived by his son, Douglas (Becky) White; daughters Janice (Phillip) Fry and Jeanette (Mark) Hammer; grandchildren Jamie (Chester) White Hembree,Richard (Beth) White, Marcy (Daniel) Hammer Gallagher, James (Heather) Hammer, Matthew (Ann) Fry, Jessica (Aaron) Fry Jennings and Kristen (Jordan) Fry Stafford; great-grandchildren Margaret and Teresa Gallagher, Henry and Ruthie White, George and Betsy Fry, Lucas and Eliza Hammer, Brecken and Maelynn Stafford, and Bronte and Creede Jennings; sisters-in-law Mildred (Hubert) Sims and Ann (Harry) Porter: and special friend, Marie Smith.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19 at Brick Chapel Cemetery. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
