VW Brigade to ride again Sunday

The Putnam County Volkswagen Brigade will come to together again to bring up the rear of the Putnam County 4-H Fair Parade this Sunday.

Since its first appearance in the parade in 2001, the Brigade’s mission has been to keep the marque alive by inviting enthusiasts from the area and beyond.

Whether air-cooled or water-cooled and either customized or daily drivers, all Volkswagens are welcome to join in. However, local people are especially wanted.

“We need local people to keep this tradition going,” said Lee Creed, a local enthusiast who believes the future of the group lies in having modern Volkswagens among vintage ones.

The group will stage in the Greencastle High School parking lot at 1 p.m. and then roll onto the parade route.
