Public asked for input in county comprehensive plan process

Monday, July 11, 2022

With Putnam County investing in a new comprehensive plan and accompanying zoning ordinance, officials are seeking as much public input as possible.

Decisions on the future of Putnam County and the process by which those decisions will be made effect every resident of the community, so the more voices the more representative the new plan can be.

In this light, county officials and HWC Engineering, the firm partnering with the county to write the new plan, are asking residents to visit https://envisionputnamcounty.com/.

At this site, residents can learn more about the planning process, access the current planning documents for the county and local municipalities of Greencastle, Bainbridge and Cloverdale and take a survey on their vision for the future of Putnam County.

Among the questions officials and engineers are hoping to answer are:

• What assets should Putnam County preserve and protect?

• What challenges must Putnam County overcome?

• How can we respond to change?

The survey will be available through at least the end of July.

Public planning workshops will be announced later in 2022.

A comprehensive plan includes guiding documents adopted by local government to help elected officials and community leaders make decisions about parks and recreation, economic development, transportation networks and more.
