If the parade planning was devoid of accommodations for inclement weather circumstances, then it wasn't actual planning. Sounds like idiotic and or lazy leadership to me...

  • Sitting in a scorching hot sun with a thunderstorm threatening on the horizon is part of the annual fair tradition. What has become of the hardy folk of Putnam County?

  • I would have to agree with DQ on this one.....it's sad that all those participants in the parade have wasted a lot of money just for it to be cancelled without rescheduling. Seems like there should have been a rain date?? It saddens me to see fair become less and less each year. Poor leadership indeed!

  • And before y'all come after me, yes in fact I volunteered for the fair for several years and I will tell you that there is no room for forward movement or progress within the fair.

  • This really makes me sad. There are towns that have multiple parades a year, and ours cancels the one that we have, that EVERYONE looks forward to. It's just ridiculous that there wasn't better planning for this.

  • Why not have it this Sunday?

  • They have stated they can’t reschedule due to permits etc. Our parade has to close 2 state highways to have the parade. These permits are planned many many months ahead.

  • Exactly why you should have an alternate date in the plan.

  • So how does the Rose Bowl and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade handle possible inclement weather conditions?
