Hauskatz, Wurster close 2022 Parkfest season

Monday, July 25, 2022

Bringing to a close a summer of free concerts, the 2022 Parkfest lineup will conclude Tuesday evening with music by Chris Wurster as well as Hauskatz.

Presented by the Greencastle Civic League, the concert will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Robe-Ann Park bandshell.

Wurster says he felt fortunate that the pandemic seemed a lot like retirement. But as the opportunities to play and the places to play dried up, music went on a bit of a hiatus.

He admits that he is motivated to practice by performance, so he relished the chance to prepare for this Park Fest show. Since he’s been playing guitar for about 60 years, the calluses and chops came back pretty quickly.

He is grateful to Civic League for another Park Fest invitation.

The Haukatz have been on the Greencastle music scene since 2006. The quintet plays jazz, rock, blues and more — classics and standards with a twist and a wink.

The Hauskatz features Carol Hamm on vocals, Bill Hamm on bass, Steve Michael on guitars, Veronica Pejril on keyboards and Rick Provine on drums.

The show will conclude the 29th season of Parkfest.
